CRESCENT
CHIGNON
(1) Set wet hair in the same
way as the page boy. Very tight at the sides. (see step 1 of Chinese
Page Boy). (2) When the hair is dry, take it down, and slip a band
over it next to the scalp. Then ruff the hair, strand by strand,
with the same short strokes used in ruffing the hair for step 2 of the
Chinese Page Boy. (3) When all the back hair is ruffed, smooth the
top of it with a brush and turn the hair under in a bun effect, securing
it with hairpins. (4) Then slip a finger in each side of the bun
and pull the sides up until they touch in center. Pin them where
they meet. Then to keep the hair in place, cover the chignon with
an invisible hair net, pulling the net tightly over the bun. |

SIDE SWEEP
(1) Starting quite far over
on the right side, part the wet hair, stopping an inch and a half from
the brow. Press and comb the hair on the right in slight waves, following
the shape of the head. The first wave should be placed in front of
the right ear. the ends of the hair are then set in small flat curls, turned
forward. (2) Set front hair on left side in seven small pin curls,
turning them backward. Behind those, set two rows of large pin curls,
turned forward. (3) When the hair is dry, comb the seven front curls
into those next to them, making a deep wave. (4) Then comb the rest
of the curls together in a large soft roll that blends in with the front
wave and goes all around the left side of the head and down in back. |
